THE MIXMASTERED STORY
It all started with music. Dan Morrell was a working musician who needed a recording space — so he built one. Then he realized the acoustic panels on the market were overpriced and underwhelming, so he started making his own. When other studios and home theater owners wanted them too, Acoustic Sound Panels was born.
The studio kept growing. Artists needed a label that actually cared about their music, so Mixmastered Records came to life — an independent label built on handshakes and shared vision, not contracts designed by lawyers.
Along the way, bands needed merch. Businesses needed print. Nobody wanted to deal with bloated print shops that took weeks and cost a fortune. Lean Print Shop was the answer — fast turnaround, fair prices, no nonsense.
And through it all, the studio remained the heart of the operation. Mixmastered Studios is where it all comes together — a professional recording and production facility that has helped hundreds of artists bring their sound to the world.
And before all of it, there was the party. Mixmaster Throwdown (MMTD) — the nightlife promotions company that started it all back in 1997 — is where Dan first made his name, bringing legendary events and celebrity hosting to Chicago and beyond.
Five businesses. One philosophy. Build something you believe in, do the work yourself, and never stop creating.
